Graama Aarogya Abhiyana

The Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme ensures hundred days of work in a year to improve the livelihood of families in rural areas. In order to promote the wellbeing of the laborers registered under the scheme along with employment, Gram Panchayats in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare and KHPT are carrying out Arogya Amrita Abhiyana, where free health check-up have been organized. Over 2 lakh registered NREGA labourers have undergone health check-up and will be conducted for the rest of the registered labourers till 22nd June.


Objectives:
1. To conduct health check-up for all registered labourers at Gram Panchayat level, check the health problems which are currently faced and potentially faced health problems by the labourers  and advising them to get appropriate treatment.
2. To create awareness about the communicable diseases, which can be prevented by individual and community level health hygiene practices.
3. Implementation of new programs under NREGA scheme based on health data of laborers through mass health check-up and consolidating facilities of other departments.
4. To create wide public awareness about MGNREGA scheme through health screening.

By organize the laborers in the community work places of the villages under each Gram Panchayat,
• Screening for non-communicable diseases – blood pressure diabetes test
• TB screening
• Malnutrition
• Anemia
• Support for mental health
and similar like issues are addressed through health checkups and awareness about such issues are created among the community.
